The Institute

The Institute for Dance Medicine "Fit for Dance" is directed by Dr. Liane Simmel. She studied dance at the State Conservatory of Music in Munich and at the Cunningham Studio in New York, among others. She has worked as a dancer and choreographer in theatres all over Europe.

Her interest in the way the body functions led her to study medicine. Today she has her own practice as a licensed doctor specializing in Sports Medicine, Dance Medicine, Osteopathy and Spiraldynamic in Munich.

As assistant professor she teaches dance medicine at the Palucca School in Dresden and the ZHdK in Zürich. She is traveling all over Europe for workshops and lecture in the field of the dancers' health.

Dr. Liane Simmel is Committee Member of the International Association fpr Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and Medical Advicer of the Dance Medicine Organization Monacco. She is a founding member and president of tamed, Tanzmedizin Deutschland e.V., the German Dance Medicine Association.

Her 2009 published book "Tanzmedizin in der Praxis" is a bestseller on the German book market.
